Message to All Parents & Guardians

Dear Sharks Parents/Guardians,

A kind request to please contact the Sharks Committee, NOT the YJFL directly with issues or requests.

The Sharks have a long and respectful relationship with the YJFL and are in constant – almost daily communication with them.

We have a lot of information at our hands that we can assist Sharks parent requests. We work closely with the YJFL on behalf of our players.

With over 9000 players in the YJFL – requests from parents directly ties up a valuable resource which is better spent working on the season. It also damages our long standing relationship with the league

In most cases the Sharks are already dealing with an issue with the league. Parents to then contact the YJFL about the same issue, only creates double handling, miscommunication and rumours.

Reminder- Process to communicate with the league:

Do not contact the YJFL

◦ Contact the committee members listed below with your request or issue – via email please to ensure we track communication. Phone calls are also welcome.

Key contacts –

0409 229 362
President@sharksjfc.org.au

Michael James Department of Football
0438 976 632
Football@sharksjfc.org.au

◦ The committee will either address the issue or request immediately with information on hand or contact the YJFL for assistance.

◦ We monitor issues throughout the season and work with the league to ensure continuous improvement moving forward.

Again, please do not contact the YJFL directly – the Sharks committee is your first point to resolution.

Thank you
Travis Rankin

Concussion and Code of Conduct

Dear Parents & Guardians,

With the start of the football season upon us, we would like to arm all of our members with some important information to ensure our children can enjoy the game they love in a safe and respectful environment.

Over the past few years, the Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) has invested heavily in ensuring our game is safer, which includes introducing qualified medics at our games and implementing a comprehensive concussion management protocol.

We all have a role to play in recognising the signs of concussion and how to manage it. It is important that we are all aware of the protocols in place and have access to the most up-to-date information.

The latest guidelines on concussion management can be found in the Rules & Docs section in StackTeamApp or by clicking the link below:

Another useful resource which anyone can download is the AFL HeadCheck App (see attached pic).

We also want to remind you that upon registration all members have agreed to abide by YJFL’s Code of Conduct. We are all subject to it – players, officials, parents and spectators. Please ensure you read this document again ahead of Round 1 and are aware of the role we all play to ensure our children can enjoy the game we love.

We wish all our players and the Sharks community a fantastic season in 2024.

Go Sharks!

Community Hardship Fund

In partnership with the Community Bank Warrandyte, our club has established a Community Hardship Fund to support Sharks families who are experiencing financial and personal hardship.

As a community sporting club, we have a strong focus on the welfare of our players and their families and believe that no child should miss out on playing junior football due to difficult circumstances.

Nominations can be made either directly or by someone close to the family by sending an email to president@sharksjfc.org.au. All nominations are treated confidentially and support is determined by a trusted panel of 3 people and not shared any wider.

The Community Hardship Fund has already supported the Sharks community over the Summer. If you would like more information, please contact president@sharksjfc.org.au.
